My first scarf pattern

With the start of fall I think of scarfs and blankets- the shell stitch was my first stitch I used to make a scarf. They make a fun pattern and really stylish scarf- it is a really easy stitch to learn and can make many things. I have made hats and scarfs and blanket with the shell stitch . It sounds tricky but it really is just using double crochets and following a pattern,

With one stitch at a time you can accomplish many things.

This morning my son is working on some wood working crafts and my daughter is coloring. I the fact I can sit with my kids and we can create together. It is such a bonding moment especially now that my son is a teen and doesn't " need " mom as much as he used too.We still can connect on a creative level and that warms my heart. They kids will have these moments etched into their memories as they age . Which reminds me just how no matter what you do they are watching and learning from us.We should always always remember what they see is what they will bring with as tools when they are older.

Tips for Tuesday

After the kids went out the door to school -- decided it was time to groom my hairy kids my 3 dogs and well tried to get both cats but only got one done..Never did get the cat to stick around for a picture. In a house with that many pets one needs to have ideas on how to get ahead of the hair--Animal hair and yarn don't mix-I usually got to the dollar store stock up on their check garment rollers---for a few bucks you can stay ahead of things-- plain tape words too -- we have an attachment on our vacuum for pet hair so yep I spend a lot of time  brushing-vacuuming --and attacking things with sticky tape...

Daylight Savings

It was a dark this morning getting the kids up for school. I wanted nothing more then too curl up in my aphgan and sleep. Now the kids are in school --getting organized for the day. I wasn't feeling well this weekend so while I was laying low I went thru patterns to get ready for spring and summer... time to pack away the heavy scarves and winter things--- onto getting ready for light weight scarfs and crocheted beach bags. Done with my coffee after I get the dogs  settled into the morning going to approach my stash of sprintg and summer wear --- Summer goes fast-- need to prepare so we can enjoy it the best we can.... I love it being lighter in the evening --

Gloomy Wednesday

We had a small hint of spring then we are back to the chill , yesterday I went to a funeral and it was cold in the cemetery. I could have used one of these scarves to brave the cold wind.

Between making a roast beef Sunday dinner and keeping up with muddy dog prints from the lovely spring weather I made these cute sun catchers. The inside is old compact discs that I don't use or need ... recycled into Sun catchers... quick and easy and fun...

Saturday --Lazy day

Today my day has started out with enjoying my coffee while my 10 yr old is quietly doing a puzzle. My two collies are as close to me as they can be enjoying a morning snooze. I can hear the geese flying over head and we can see grass as the snow disappear.

My thoughts are on crocheting Easter baskets and Easter bunny pins and butterflies....  This picture I found online-- is so cute and easy to do

As so the weekend begins

There are days I am full of ideas on what to blog --then there are days like this I am stuck. I have had all day while the kids were in school and yet nothing-- not one idea can come to mind. So I will lead with what I like best about crocheting -- it calms me .. being am a mom of a teen and a preteen can be stressful. Add a husband who has some chronic issues my mind never sleeps-- crocheting for me is a calming. I think for all parents we need to allow ourselves and outlet to calm ourselves and rejuvenate-- to tell ourselves it is ok to give us that time to turn off the stresses of the day-week and restore our inner calm.

Tonight I plan to finish up a doily... ---

Pin Cushion Chair

This little chair is made from a tuna can and some stuffing -- it is a pin cushion but also works nicely as a Barbie chair. This pattern was giving to me by an aunt when I was still in high school( trust me several years ago ) It is fun to see what one can create with an empty can and some yarn.

Here it is my first boot cuff ---this pair you wrap around your leg and button it to the desired size you want...no longer puzzled on the process of boot cuffs-- sometimes you just have to face your  fears and figure it out

Boot Cuffs

I have been looking at boot cuff patterns and always  been stumped on how to gauge how big or small to make them. After we are all different sizes -- my goal today is to figure out how to make it work... my plan is to not make is in a circle but to crochet it in a straight piece and then attach buttons so one can adjust the size to their own leg--stay tuned

New Scarf Pattern

There are so many great places to get free patterns. I like to go to Ravelry.com -- They have many crocheting and knitting patterns some are free and others are usually really reasonable. I am a sucker for a freebie this is where I often go searching for new patterns and idea. Today I am starting one called "Basic Girl" Button Up scarf-the pattern is created by Jennifer Goble of Knot Again Crochet.
It is suppose to be made of chunky yarn but I am doing it in  worsted medium ply yarn in a sage green.
As always make sure the author of a pattern gives permission to use their patterns and if you plan to sell them-give credit to the author..

New Year Start

Well it has been awhile -- I'm healing nicely from knee surgery that whole process has given me time to think about what I would like this year to look like. I think for all of us when a  new year starts we all reflect on the things you are proud of and the things you would like to see different.
During my healing time that is what I did I sat and thought about how I would like to take my business to the next step to go from Hobby to Business.... in the next weeks, months that is what my game plan is -- I appreciate all of you that have supported me along the way--thanks
